It's a totally clear morning, and it's quite mild as well. My low temp here in the upper part of town has been just 46.8F (8.2C), which is way above normal for this time of year. Humidity early this morning is 35%, and there has obviously been no rain/snow overnight.
A strong ridge of high pressure in the mid- and upper-levels of the atmosphere dominates most of northwest India, and will continue to do so for one more day. This is providing us with stable conditions and clear skies, along with these above average temps for early January. Mid-winter weather at its finest!
It won't last long though, as a brand new series of upper-level disturbances starts to ease into northern India by late Saturday, bringing us occasional clouds and sinking temperatures over the weekend and into next week. There could be enough instability to generate an isolated shower or two on Sunday or Monday, but I think the main features will be the increasing cloudiness and a return to colder conditions.
Extended range charts and data are looking more and more unsettled and potentially stormy for the middle and latter parts of next week. In fact, it's possible that we could get a long period of wet weather beginning on Wednesday, and lasting all the way through next weekend. Of course we'll be following developments here, so check back for the latest info.
