*Update @ 8:28am... Those clouds just an hour ago have rapidly dissipated with the rising sun. Looking fantastic out there right now... hopefully the sun will stick around more today than it has the last couple of days.
----------------------------------------------------------
We've got some ugly dark clouds hanging around at sunrise this morning, and although there's no rain at my location and has been none overnight, there could be a few scattered showers somewhere around the area. I'm recording a low temp of 44.4F (6.9C) -- which is exactly the same as yesterday's low -- but it is a mild 47.1F (8.4C) at the moment. After yesterday's wild fluctuations between late morning and mid-afternoon, temps have actually been very consistent and stable in the mid-40s(F).
Some random rain showers are still not out of the question today, as a weak disturbance/circulation remains the main feature in the upper-atmospheric pattern. It seems that as soon as one disturbance weakens or moves off to the east, it is quickly replaced by another one, thanks to this very progressive westerly flow at the jet stream level. At the same time, there is milder and slightly more moist air attempting to creep in from the south-southeast at the lower-levels, keeping things just unstable enough to to make it look like something might happen!
This morning's data is looking a bit more ominous for the weekend, as a stronger upper-level system approaches by late Friday. Then the extended range weather charts are showing yet another potential for a storm system by Tuesday/Wednesday of next week. An active pattern indeed, but when will we actually get some appreciable moisture out of it all?
