sun & high clouds, milder... (am.12.jan.14)>

A colorful sunrise is in progress on this Sunday morning, thanks to some patches of high clouds which have started to push into Himachal during the past several hours.  It's chilly out there, but a bit milder than this time yesterday -- I've recorded an overnight low of 39.7F (4.3C), and it's currently up to 41.0F (5.0C).  Humidity is close to 50%, and there has been no rain or snow since last report.

We'll be under the influence of a ridge of high pressure today, allowing milder temperatures and generally stable conditions.  There are a lot of high clouds showing up on satellite pics to our west, but none of them should be able to produce any precipitation.  If all goes according to plan, the high should top 50F (10C) for the first time in exactly one week.

By tomorrow, the upper-air pattern is going to shift back to a more disturbed scenario.  Although there are no major storms expected to develop this week, the upper-levels are going to be full of weak circulations and disturbances -- basically all the way into next weekend.  That's going to keep us flirting with periods of cloudiness and even the risk of a few rain showers somewhere along the way -- especially from late tomorrow (Mon) through Tuesday.  Any rain amounts should be light, but we'll keep an eye on how much moisture might get drawn into the picture.  At this point, it looks like temperatures thoughout the week should average out on the plus side of average for mid-January... despite the lack of full sunshine.
