*Update @ 8:38pm... And now the total rainfall for the day stands at 1.91" (4.9cm), nearly half of that since the last report less than an hour ago. Things seem to be calming down, at least for the moment.
*Update @ 7:47pm... This looks nothing like a 'retreat' of the monsoon to me, despite what the computer model data is saying. I've had 1" (2.5cm) of rain since 1pm... half of that occurring during the past 2.5 hours. It is raining heavily right now, with some thunder and lightning as well. Also, no power.
*Update @ 6:42pm... Yet another downpour... looking forward to what the rain gauge has to say.

Saturday's stats:
Low temp: 63.9F (17.7C)
High temp: 71.1F (21.7C)
Rainfall: 1.91" (4.9cm) -- as of 8:40pm
There's been a heavy downpour here in the main market of McLeod during the past hour or so, and occasional showers throughout the area since the early afternoon. It was nice to get a few doses of sunshine this morning, but it didn't hang around for long. Right now, it's cloudy with patchy fog, along with some drizzle. Humidity has been back up in the 95-100% range this afternoon.
Rain amounts during the past 24 hours have decreased substantially from what we were experiencing during the 36 hours before that. We're in a 'retreat' phase of the monsoon for a couple of days, but this time, there's enough moisture throughout all layers of the atmosphere to keep the showers percolating, nonetheless. Tomorrow will be another in-between kind of day, with a good chance of occasional downpours, but also the likelihood of some bursts of sunshine now and then. I heard people say today that they left the umbrella at home because of the sunshine this morning -- only to get caught unprepared in the rain later in the day. Don't let that happen to you!
Computer model data still shows the next surge of deep tropical moisture arriving here in our neighborhood sometime on Monday. Then, it looks like we'll be setting up for another round of widespread, heavier and longer-lasting rains from roughly late Monday through Wednesday of next week.
Thanks again to those of you who voted on our monsoon poll (right side of page). Very interesting results unfolding! Keep 'em coming.
