There has been occasional thunder, along with some scattered light rain showers happening all night long -- but I've only got 0.07" (2mm) in my rain gauge to show for it. It's mostly cloudy at sunrise, some patchy fog is lingering around, and the temperature is rather high for this time of day, near 68F (20C). My humidity reading is 94%.
It's now going on about 36 hours since there has been much in the way of significant rainfall, at least at my location up here on Tushita Road below the Mountaineering Center. That's going to be changing though, most likely over the course of the coming 12-18 hours or so. The latest surge of organized monsoon conditions will manifest and come together all along the leading edge of the mountains of northern India, bringing us more widespread heavy rains as this new week unfolds. The heaviest rain still looks pegged for Tuesday and Wednesday, according to computer model data, but it doesn't look that much quieter for the end of the week either, to be honest.
Thanks again to all of you who've voted on our monsoon poll (right column). Very interesting to see that the readers of the weathergeek tend to be monsoon fans, for the most part. I guess I shouldn't be surprised ;) The poll will remain open until the end of the month, so it's not too late to register your opinion.!
