*Update @ 3:35pm... Scattered rain showers have been occurring since around 1pm, and I'm measuring 0.33" (8mm) up here on Tushita Road. A fairly healthy shower is in progress at the moment. There were also a few nice glimpses of sunshine earlier in the day, but those have been chased away.
-------------------------------------------------------------
It's cloudy and dreary on this Saturday morning, but there is no rain falling at the moment. I recorded just 0.12" (3mm) since last report, and I think all of that occurred before midnight, so it will be added to yesterday's huge total -- bringing it up to 3.53" (9.0cm). We're starting off the day with a temp of 65.5F (18.6C), and a humidity reading of 87%.
Although we will have a few showers scattered around the area today, I feel fairly confident in saying that we're going to be getting a break from the recent very heavy rains -- for a couple of days. Throughout the season, monsoon conditions ebb and flow, surge and retreat, and we've been lapsing back into a 'retreat' mode since yesterday afternoon. I guess that's a good thing since we're pretty water-logged from the extremely heavy rainfall totals that began to add up, just as the calendar paged flipped from July to August. If we get really lucky, maybe we'll break out into a period or two of sunshine over the weekend.
The next surge of deep tropical moisture will be moving in starting on Monday, with the window of opportunity for widespread and heavy rainfall setting up from about Monday night through at least Wednesday. The good news is... in about six weeks from now we should be nearing the end.! It'll be here before we know it...
