the sun is shining in the southern and western sky this evening, but to the north and east over the mountains, there remain some clouds... left-overs from some showers which tried desperately to develop up there during the afternoon hours. we had a super-comfortable high temp of 74.1F (23.4C) in upper mcleod ganj.
a pocket of cold air aloft is the culprit for stirring up the afternoon build-up of clouds over the mountains again this afternoon, but the instability is just not quite strong enough to cause anything significant to develop and persist long enough to make it down to our elevation. the satellite pics this evening actually show a line of dying showers/thundershowers along the leading edge of the himalayan ranges, from western kashmir all the way through himachal into uttar anchal.
we're still looking at a generally quiet weather pattern the next few days. temperatures will be warming aloft, and perhaps slightly here at the surface as well. the upper-level disturbance we've been watching for the weekend seems to have been delayed until the early part of next week. when it finally arrives, it could increase our chance of scattered showers and thundershowers into the 30-40% range. stay tuned...
