mostly sunny skies prevail across the area early this evening. lo and behold the build-up of clouds over the mountains this afternoon was less pronounced than during the last few days, and we've had no thunder or sprinkles or showers or anything of the sort to ruin this beautiful sunday. i recorded a high temp this afternoon of 76.6F (24.8C), which was the second-warmest of the season thus far.
current satellite pics show a scattering of mountain showers and thundershowers from western kashmir through himachal, then southeastward into uttar anchal and nepal. somehow they have managed to skip the dhauladars this time around. we're still watching the approach of an upper-level disturbance, or a "wrinkle" in the jetstream flow... which is now centered over northern afghanistan. it is the feature that will give us about a 40-50% chance of measurable rainfall between now and tuesday. rain and thunderstorms will not be widespread, just keep in mind that showers could pop up from time to time, and perhaps stick around for an hour or two.
by the latter half of the week, shower chances will diminish to around 20% or so... but honestly, enough instability will remain right into next weekend, which will likely prevent us from having totally sunny and quiet conditions. typical springtime, really...
SUNDAY NIGHT: partly cloudy and very mild, with a shower or thundershower possible.
low: 17C (63F)
MONDAY: partly cloudy and warm again, with a better chance of some scattered showers, and possibly a thunderstorm.
high: 25C (77F)
TUESDAY: partly to mostly cloudy skies. good chance of one or two periods of thundershowers.
high: 24C (76F)
WEDNESDAY: partly cloudy. slight chance of a PM thundershower.
high: 23C (74F)
THURSDAY: partly to mostly sunny skies.
high: 23C (74F)
FRIDAY: a mix of sun and clouds... slight chance of an afternoon thundershower.
high: 24C (75F)
