lingering wetness... (am.04.mar.11)>

skies are cloudy with scattered showers early this morning, and the current temp is 42.8F (6.0C).  since last report, we've picked up another 0.10" (2.5mm) of rain... bringing our storm total (since monday night) up to 1.99" (5.1cm).  we also had a few rumbles of thunder overnight, but nothing intense at all.

our upper-level storm system remains parked just to our west, but will begin to shift eastward and finally weaken during the next 24 hours.  it looks like we will continue to be under the gun for occasional rain and possibly a thundershower or two along with some gusty winds between now and tomorrow morning.  it's not going to rain continuously (and we'll probably even see some breaks in the clouds), but there is a still a good chance that we could see another period of moderate to heavy rainfall before this is all over.  as you can see by looking at the mountains, the snow line has remained very high... so heavy snow is going to stay up towards triund.

i am happy to report that we have a fairly major "pattern shift" on the way for the coming week.  temperatures in all levels of the atmosphere are expected to warm considerably, and the seemingly constant parade of upper-level disturbances will wane.  i think we are finally going to get at least a taste of springtime weather by the second and third days of tibetan losar...

FRIDAY: clouds with a few peeks of sun.  occasional periods of rain still likely, though.  gusty winds, with a chance of a thunderstorm or two as well.
high: 9C (49F)

FRIDAY NIGHT: still a good chance of some rain and thunder, otherwise partly to mostly cloudy.
low: 7C (44F)

SATURDAY (first day of losar): scattered showers may linger... especially in the AM.  otherwise becoming partly cloudy and milder.
high: 12C (54F)

SUNDAY: partly to mostly sunny skies.  a big warm-up...
high: 15C (59F)

MONDAY: mostly sunny and pleasant.
high: 16C (60F)

TUESDAY: a mix of sun and clouds, with a slight chance of a PM thundershower.
high: 15C (59F)
