rebounding... (am.06.jun.15)>

We have totally clear skies at sunrise this morning, though it is a bit hazy.  According to my records, this is the first clear morning since Thursday, the 28th of May.  It's been calm and quiet overnight, for the first night since very early in the week, with no rainfall to report.  I'm recording a mild overnight low of 63.5F (17.5C).

We've just been through a rather long break in the midst of our summer, with very mild temperatures, light amounts of rain on a daily basis, and a predominance of clouds -- since last Sunday.  If you follow along here, you know the story very well -- we've had a big, sluggish area of low pressure in the upper-atmosphere sitting on top of northeast Pakistan and northwest India for most of the week, keeping things unstable day after day. Although the total rainfall all week long was only 0.80" (2.0cm), it came in frequent small doses, accompanied by gusty winds and thunder at times.

That upper-level system has mostly died and shifted off to the northeast, but there are still some nagging little pools of much colder air aloft lingering across northern India, which could lead to a period of instability during the afternoon/evening hours after several hours of strong June sunshine heats up the surface layers.  That means we can't ignore the risk of isolated thundershower development, mainly in the vicinity of the mountains, both this afternoon and again on Sunday afternoon.  Otherwise we're talking about much better conditions than we've seen during most of this past week, along with a major jump in temperatures.

All signs point to very warm to hot weather for us during most of the coming week, with temperatures perhaps as warm or a little warmer than we've seen this summer season so far.  The maximum temp I've recorded this season was 89.4F (31.9C) back on the 23rd of May -- and we could meet or exceed that by Tuesday or Wednesday.
