gradually improving situation... (pm.05.jun.15)>

Friday's stats:

Low temp: 56.3F (13.5C)
High temp: 71.7F (22.1C)
Rainfall since midnight: 0.16" (4mm)

A picture-perfect Friday evening is underway, with mostly clear skies and very pleasant temperatures.  That's a far cry from the way the day started, with thick clouds, gusty winds and thundershowers.  Most of that madness fizzled out by late morning, with peeks of sun becoming gradually more frequent just after noon -- leading to nearly full sunshine after about 2:45pm.  But even with the return of the sun, our temperatures weren't able to make great gains... it's still way cooler than normal for early June.

The stubborn slow-moving upper-level low pressure circulation that has been basically sitting on top of us all week long is still not totally gone.  A weak counter-clockwise circulation remains over north India, with a moderate amount of latent moisture contained in this air mass.  Yes, things look very good at the moment, but I have concerns that we could see more development of isolated shower/thunder activity until we get a definitive push of warmer air in the upper-levels of the atmosphere.  There is disagreement among the various computer model solutions about when that will happen -- one or two models say it's imminent, while another couple of models are keeping things a bit unstable all the way through the weekend.  Either way, it's looking better and better for us, though we still need to be aware of the risk of some random thundershower development mainly during the mid-afternoon through early evening hours.

With the percentage of sunshine on the way up, and a warmer air mass building in from the southwest, we can still expect to experience a major temperature rebound over the course of the coming several days.  Let's watch it day-by-day, but it could be pushing 90ºF (32ºC) by Tuesday or Wednesday.
