Wednesday's stats:
Early morning low temp: 41.9F (5.5C)
Afternoon high temp: 50.7F (10.5C)
Rainfall: none
It is partly cloudy at sunset this evening, after a day of mixed clouds and sunshine, along with slightly cooler temperatures than we had yesterday. But actually, today's temps were very close to normal for the final week of January.
An upper-level disturbance centered right along the Pakistan/Kashmir border just southwest of Srinagar is responsible for the increased cloudiness today. This system will drift east-southeastward overnight, winding up over the northeast part of Himachal by sunrise tomorrow morning. From recent satellite photos, it looks like there could be a few light rain showers from extreme east-central Pakistan into western Punjab -- so we may yet get a little bit of light precipitation overnight as this system moves through. Of course that also means there is potential for some light snowfall in the higher elevations.
Then, generally quiet and milder weather should be on the way for the remainder of the week, through the weekend, and into at least the first half of next week. There are no storm systems on the horizon, and temperatures will likely rise a few degrees above normal for the final few days of January. By the end of next week we may be looking at a change in the weather pattern... but that's very far away.
