Monday's stats:
Early morning low temp: 46.2F (7.9C)
Afternoon high temp: 56.3F (13.5C)
Rainfall: none
The drop in temperatures during the past 18 hours or so has brought us the coolest weather since the 1st of December, and smashed our seven-day streak of 60F+. Sunshine alternated with clouds all day long, and it's been breezy at times.
The atmosphere is undergoing some major changes at the moment, which will lead to a prolonged stretch of unsettled weather for us here along the mountains in northern India. A brand new upper-level disturbance is organizing to our west this evening and could cause a couple of showers to develop around the area as it drifts through on Tuesday. Wednesday should be an "in between" kind of day, but then things continue to look very interesting for the end of the week. Low pressure from the surface into the upper atmosphere is expected to become entrenched across the northwest third of India -- its counter-clockwise circulation drawing up a decent amount of moisture ahead of it. The potential for significant rain and snowfall still looks quite good -- especially from Thursday into mid-day Friday. Accumulating snows are a possibility down as low as 8000ft (2400m) or so... close enough that we'll need to watch things very carefully.!
Colder and colder temperatures are expected this week as well. We've already returned fairly close to normal for this stage of December, but it appears that we could have a couple of days of MUCH colder than normal temps with the clouds/rain/snow combo later this week. I'll be updating more frequently should winter storm conditions materialize...
