sun-cloud duel... (pm.02.dec.12)>

Sunday's stats:

Early morning low temp: 47.7F (8.7C)
Afternoon high temp: 58.5F (14.7C)
Rainfall: none

We've just had a stunning sunset, thanks to the assistance of the patches of mainly high clouds across the area this evening.  Those clouds were much more prevalent today than I was expecting, but we still had enough sunshine during the morning into the mid-day hours to bump our high temp up to the highest in 10 days.  If we'd had full sun today, I'm sure we would have surpassed 60F.  This current air mass is considerably milder than what we were experiencing late last week.

The high clouds today were manufactured by a weak upper-level disturbance which is located just to our west-northwest, but is fizzling out.  A ridge of high pressure should build in from Monday into early Wednesday, keeping our temps near or a bit above normal for early December, while providing us with a  majority of sunshine.

There will be another weak disturbance late Wednesday, and then a slightly stronger disturbance moving in on Friday.  Right now, I'm not seeing any kind of intrusion of moisture to accompany these disturbances, so rain chances will be scanty at best right through the week.  Just be aware that the sunshine will be challenged by periods of clouds from time to time.
