Sunday's stats:
Early morning low temp: 40.8F (4.9C)
Afternoon high temp: 54.1F (12.3C)
Rainfall: 0.07" (2mm)
It is partly to mostly cloudy just after sunset this Sunday evening, with clouds still hanging over the mountains, and other high clouds streaming in from the southwest. After our early morning showers, the clouds DID finally give way to some nice sunshine for much of the day, allowing us our warmest high temperature in nearly a week. We were actually back in the 'normal' range for the middle of December this afternoon, following several days of more January-like temps.
Weak disturbances and temperature disparities between different layers of the atmosphere are preventing us from returning to a totally sunny, dry and quiet weather pattern. There are no significant or major storm systems threatening in the next week or so, but at least during the next couple of days, things will remain unsettled. Though there will be some clouds around, Monday looks dry... but then the risk of some rain showers is back in the forecast for Monday night and Tuesday. Right now the data points to most of the precipitation happening higher up in the mountains, but be aware of the potential for a little light rain here in the immediate McLeod area. By Wednesday, the mid- and upper-level flow will turn to the northwest, ushering in some bone-dry air for the latter part of the week. That's when we stand a chance of having some days with nearly 100% sunshine.
Temperatures aren't expected to fluctuate much this week, with both highs and lows balancing out close to normal/average for this time of year. Bottom line: this week should be much more pleasant than last week in all respects!
