Update @ 9:27pm... Clouds are dispersing and stars are appearing. Hopefully this will be a sign of better things to come...
Update @ 7:55pm... There are still a few light showers, sprinkles, and some drizzle out there. But it's very light, with my rainfall total for the day just 0.04" (1mm). Current temp is 43.3F (6.3C) in the upper part of town.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Saturday's stats:
Early morning low temp: 40.3F (4.6C) -- shortly after midnight
Afternoon high temp: 50.5F (10.3C) -- around 1:30pm
Rainfall: 0.03" (1mm)
It is cloudy and blustery just after dark this evening. There was a nice period of sunshine during the early afternoon today which boosted our temps up to the 50F mark, but the rest of the day was cloudy and gloomy, with a few very brief showers roaming the area. There were some snow showers higher up... adding to the massive amounts which accumulated up there earlier in the week. I got a first-hand report today of more than 2.5 feet of snow up on the Triund ridge.
Lingering moisture in the mid-levels of the atmosphere, along with some minor disturbances drifting through have kept things very unsettled since the departure of our recent storm system. We may see a bit of improvement tomorrow, but a dramatic turn to an extended streak of more pleasant conditions doesn't look very likely at this point. There will be another weak system on Monday night into Tuesday which could bring us another round of light precipitation, but rain/snow amounts should be insignificant compared to what we endured on Thursday night and Friday.
Temperatures will show a general moderating trend during the coming week. We probably won't get back above normal for the season, but it should start to feel more like December instead of January...
