rapid rebound... (pm.01.dec.12)>

Saturday's stats:

Early morning low temp: 44.2F (6.8C)
Afternoon high temp: 56.3F (13.5C)
Rainfall: none

Although temperatures were just a shade below normal, today was about as perfect of a start to the month of December as we could ever hope for.  There were a few cumulus clouds struggling to develop over the mountains after about 1:00pm and a few high cirrus clouds in the southwestern sky at sunset, otherwise the sunshine was the dominant force of the day.

The remaining couple of inches of slushy snow has melted from Triund and other high grassy slopes, leaving the remaining snow cover from our recent storm on the rocky Dhauladhars proper.  Thanks to the sun, and some steady warming in the mid-levels of the atmosphere, we've experienced a rapid rebound from the biting wintry chill of just a day or two ago.

There are some very minor disturbances expected to drift through during the coming few days, but our air mass should remain pretty much bone-dry, with nothing more than occasional patches of high clouds or perhaps an afternoon build-up of mountain cloudiness anticipated.  This weather pattern favors a return to milder temperatures as well, so all in all, it looks like we're in for some relatively pleasant December conditions as the new week unfolds...
