Friday's stats:
Low temp: 66.6F (19.2C)
High temp: 79.5F (26.4C)
Rainfall: 0.32" (8mm)
It's looking a little bit more "monsoon-ish" out there this evening, with lots of thick cloudiness and a few showers and even some thunder scattered around the area. We had a good amount of sunshine again today, but clouds developed earlier than yesterday, due to increasing amounts of moisture in the air. The first rain showers held off until just past 3:30pm, but were briefly moderate to heavy between then and about 4:00pm... and haven't entirely died off just yet.
We could be right on the verge of some changes as the weekend arrives. There should be a steady increase in the moisture content of the air mass during the coming 48 hours or so, as we begin to come under the influence of some waves of mid- and upper-level energy approaching from the southeast. There's still a lot of discrepancy between computer models in terms of the potential for some longer-lasting and heavier rainfall -- a couple of models say that could start happening before the weekend is over, while one of the major models is delaying the main surge of moisture until Tuesday. Hmmmmmm. I'm leaning toward an earlier turn, but of course we'll just have to watch how it all comes together.
When we get a surge in humidity levels leading to more pervasive clouds and some areas of fog, our temperatures will cool down at least a few degrees. Usually the thermometer moves very little between day and night once we get into the real monsoon groove.
CURRENT FORECAST details for the coming five days can be found on the tab above.
