It's hazy, otherwise we have mostly clear skies as the sun peeks over the mountains this morning. My overnight low has been a comfortable 65.1F (18.4C), and there has been no rainfall since last evening's report. Humidity is remarkably low for a July morning -- currently around 60%.
We shall see just how long this is going to last, but we are definitely in the midst of a very weak and feeble phase of the monsoon that really doesn't even seem like monsoon season at all. Computer models are showing nothing more than some isolated to widely scattered shower/thunder development mainly during the PM hours -- all the way through the remainder of this week. If we do happen to get some shower development, there could be some heavy downpours though, so keep that in mind.
One set of data is showing a resurgence of deep tropical moisture and a wave of upper-level energy that could set off more significant rainfall sometime over the weekend. But all the other models are holding off on that scenario until about Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. At any rate -- we can't expect this relatively calm and quiet situation to last forever.
Temperatures are still expected to warm up gradually as we progress toward the weekend.
