Thursday's stats:
Low temp: 65.3F (18.5C)
High temp: 81.7F (27.6C)
Rainfall: 0.45" (1.1cm) -- updated at 7:50pm
We had a gorgeous morning to start the day, and now our Thursday is ending in the same manner. Skies are partly cloudy, with good visibility as we approach sunset. In between, we had another round of rain showers and some thunder -- but today the development was a bit later -- mainly between about 3:00 and 5:00pm. The rain at my location in the upper part of town wasn't nearly as heavy as it was yesterday, but it was notable nonetheless. Before the clouds thickened and the thundershower developed, we had a lot of sunshine, which boosted temps several degrees above normal for early July.
I keep harping on the low humidity and lack of fog during the past several days, but that really is the most bizarre weather issue we're dealing with. Although we've been getting varying degrees of shower development during the afternoon hours, we're still lacking the deep tropical moisture which is normally well-entrenched by this time of year. It looks like that will be changing during the next two or three days, however, as all the computer model projections are showing genuine monsoon-league moisture creeping northwestward along the front slopes of the mountains as we move through the weekend into early next week.
Tomorrow and Saturday should feature mainly afternoon shower development again, but we'll probably start to see less and less sunshine along with a better chance of some fog and more consistently rainy conditions perhaps as early as Sunday into Monday. Once that deeper moisture arrives, we'll be saying goodbye to these unseasonably warm temperatures.
