We have hazy sunshine early on this Monday morning. I'm recording an overnight low temp of 65.5F (18.6C) here in the upper part of town, along with no rainfall since the 0.10" (2mm) received yesterday afternoon. The currently humidity reading is right around 65%.
This kind of weather during early July is quite a gift... and it's unfortunate that monsoon doom and gloom propaganda causes many people to completely avoid spending time here during this time of year. It is totally normal for monsoon conditions to ebb and flow, surge and retreat, and swing from intensity to dullness over the course of this two to three month period. Anyway, after a pretty healthy start to this year's season during the final week or so of June, things have been fairly tolerable during the month of July so far. Yes, there has been nearly four inches of rain here on Tushita Road just below the mountaineering center in the past six days, but that's less than normal for the first week of July.
Despite the lack of conditions necessary for long-lasting, widespread heavy rainfall over the course of the next several days, it won't take much to get some isolated heavy downpours stirred up in this juicy, tropical environment. So -- enjoy the periods of sunshine, but just be prepared for a shower on occasion. Still looks like we may have to wait until next week before things really crank up again.
