weekend changes... (pm.16.nov.12)>

Friday's stats:

Early morning low temp: 52.2F (11.2C)
Afternoon high temp: 61.9F (16.6C)
Rainfall: none

Today's temps were the warmest in more than a week, if only by just a hair.  We had lots of sunshine again, but there were some patches of high clouds drifting through from time to time, just to keep us from equalling yesterday's wall-to-wall sun effect.

A bubble of warm air has been dominating the mid- and upper-atmosphere since Wednesday night, and that has kept us extremely stable and relatively mild.  An approaching upper-level disturbance will squash that bubble, and cause instability to return as the weekend progresses.  As colder air filters in aloft, we should see an increase in mainly PM cloudiness once again, along with an increasing risk of a few showers and/or thundershowers popping up around the area.  I think there's a good chance of a period of snow showers in the mountains above 10,000ft or so sometime between late Saturday and Sunday night as well.

This system should clear out to the east by late Sunday night, ushering in some cooler air for the majority of the coming week.  I'm still not seeing temperatures falling very far below normal for this time of year during the next several days, though.  November continues its very gradual and controlled cool-down.
