Today's high temp of 61F is the third day in a row we've topped out at that exact temperature... but it felt colder this afternoon, thanks to clouds which thickened up and hung around well into the evening. That indicates that things are still a bit unstable here along the front ranges of the mountains, with different air masses at different levels of the atmosphere competing for domination.
I still expect some stabilization during the coming several days, as slightly warmer air arrives aloft. That should translate into less PM mountain cloudiness, along with a continuing serious lack of precipitation across not only Himachal Pradesh, but most of the western Himalayan region. We are now into the heart of the most quiet and uneventful time of year in this part of the world, with no major shake-ups in sight.
It remains very pleasant in the sun, but we've definitely reached the stage when things are decisively cool in the shade or under cloudiness. Attire around McLeod Ganj recently seems to range from a few hardy souls in t-shirts and shorts, to others bundled in down jackets and woolen hats -- a testament to the extreme subjectivity with regard to temperature perception!! At any rate, the thermometer should show a subtle rise in temps by the end of the week.
