Monday's stats:
Early morning low temp: 50.9F (10.5C)
Afternoon high temp: 64.2F (17.9C)
Rainfall: none
Scattered clouds are lingering across the area just after sunset this evening, evidence of an unsettled atmosphere. This morning's low temp was the second coolest of the season, but it warmed up rather nicely thanks to sunshine which was pretty much uncontested until shortly after the noon hour.
A rather dynamic upper-level disturbance is currently centered in northern Pakistan, just west of the Kashmir border. It will be moving southeastward and over our heads tonight into Tuesday, keeping our air mass unstable, while allowing progressively cooler air to spill into Himachal Pradesh. There are actually a few clusters of thundershowers along the Pakistan/Kashmir border at the moment, which indicates that we stand a chance of picking up some action during the next 18 hours or so. If precipitation DOES develop/move in, it will be in the form of snow above 9,000ft (2700m) or so... which could be the second snowfall for Triund this season. Definitely something to watch.
We stand pretty much assured of having the coolest temperatures of this evolving winter season for the remainder of the week, with little chance of a significant warming trend until perhaps Sunday or Monday. Very cold air aloft will trigger afternoon mountain cloudiness -- otherwise sunshine should be plentiful after tonight/Tuesday's system exits to the east.
