Our Saturday panned out pretty much as expected, with a massive build-up of clouds during the afternoon yielding just a few random raindrops before quickly dissipating. I also heard some thunder around 1:30pm coming from the Dhauladars to our northeast. Otherwise, a good amount of sun during the first half of the day allowed our high temp to equal what we've seen for the past three days in a row.
A large area of low pressure aloft, characterized by counter-clockwise circulation around a pool of very cold air up above 12,000ft, was responsible for the instability today. Although we received very little precipitation down here at our elevation, there is another fresh dusting of snow up on the mountain peaks. This system is pulling off to the east at the moment, which will return us to our recent pattern of a flat west-to-east flow of air in the mid- and upper-levels of the atmosphere which should last into the middle of the coming week. Right now it appears that we'll see less and less afternoon clouds over the mountains as the next few days go by.
Temperatures STILL haven't really dropped consistently to where they should be at this stage of November, but should be fairly close to normal during the coming 48 hours or so. Thereafter, I'm expecting a subtle warming trend which should last into next weekend. This autumn season has been very good to us thus far.
