Friday's stats:
Early morning low temp: 54.5F (12.5C)
Afternoon high temp: 64.9F (18.3C)
Rainfall: none
A batch of cooler air drifted in from the northwest during the latter part of this afternoon, and it seemed to me the chilling effect was quite noticeable -- especially after about 4:30pm. We did manage a high temp close to 65F with all the sunshine, but that was a couple of degrees (F) cooler than expected. Cloud development today was minimal again... however, there seems to be a good amount of haze around the area this evening.
The shot of cooler air this afternoon is a sign of things to come. Our recent very tranquil and mild weather pattern will be shifting during the coming few days, allowing a cooling trend to occur from the surface into the upper levels of the atmosphere. It looks like we'll actually be getting back into the "normal" temperature range for this time of year, after several days above normal.
I'm also watching for the potential for a bit of instability early next week -- right now, computer models aren't advertising even a slight chance of any rain showers, but a series of fast-moving upper-level disturbances moving across the area could stir something up. Even though chances of rain appear to be remote, stay tuned for potential changes to the forecast from late Monday into early Wednesday.
