Friday's stats:
Early morning low temp: 49.5F (9.7C)
Afternoon high temp: 61.0F (16.1C)
Rainfall: none
It's been a day of fluctuating cloud cover -- from 100% sunshine this morning, to a period of fairly thick cloudiness developing and spilling out from the mountains during the afternoon, and then back to clear skies at sunset. I haven't heard any reports of rain/snowfall, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were a couple of light showers up in the higher elevations between about 1:00 and 3:30pm. Although only slightly cooler than yesterday, today's high temp was the new coolest of the season.
A very cold pool of air in the upper-atmosphere is currently sliding across northern India, and will remain in the area through Saturday evening. This feature will continue to provide us with enough afternoon instability to cause increasing clouds, and perhaps a stray shower somewhere in the area. Tomorrow afternoon bears close watching to see if there might be some development in the mountains... be prepared if you plan to be trekking up there.
It looks like we may see less of that PM cloud development as we head into next week. Sunshine should be plentiful, but any kind of significant warming trend appears unlikely at the moment. Expect both overnight lows and afternoon highs to moderate only slightly by Wednesday...
