Sunday's stats:
Low temp: 54.7F (12.6C)
High temp: 63.5F (17.5C)
Rainfall since midnight: 0.29" (7mm)
24 hour rainfall: 0.35" (9mm)
It's actually quite nice out there just before sunset on this Sunday evening, with some breaks in the overcast allowing a bit of sun to shine through. Otherwise, it's been a pretty dismal day, with much more cloudiness than sun, and several short periods of showers and thunder. Rainfall amounts haven't been all that significant (so far), but those showers have been fairly common since last evening. Temperatures since last night are running much cooler than they have recently -- already dropping to a range that is more than 15F (7C) below normal for this time of year.
All week we've been talking about the best chance of significant rain occurring between late Sunday and Tuesday, and that still seems to be the case. Though we've had many showers during the past 24 hours, it looks like the vast majority of rainfall is yet to come, as a rather complex cluster of upper-level circulations and disturbances lingers to our west and northwest during the coming 48 hours or so. These disturbances are going to be tapping into an impressive amount of moisture for the first half of May, lifting it and wringing it out here along the mountains of Himachal Pradesh. This evening's data suggests perhaps 1.2-1.6" (3-4cm) of rain in our area by late Tuesday -- so let's see if we can really come up with those kinds of totals.
Our temps will remain unseasonably cool in the near-term, but we should see some improvement in the form of drying and slow warming by the latter half of this week. We probably won't see a rebound to 80F for a while, but the summertime feel will be returning by Thursday or Friday.
