a repetitive pattern... (pm.03.may.14)>

Saturday's stats:

Low temp: 59.4F (15.2C) -- updated @ 8:00pm
High temp: 75.8F (24.3C)
Rainfall: 0.34" (9mm) -- updated @ 8:00pm

The sun is visible in the western sky just before sunset this evening, otherwise it's mostly cloudy.  We had a fairly substantial round of showers with some thunder between about 4:45 and 5:30pm, with another brief but significant shower right around 12:30pm.  Otherwise, the day has been full of alternations between sun, clouds, and a few sprinkles, very light showers at times.  The sunshine was less dominant today than it has been recently, and that kept our temperatures down a few degrees.

The weather charts and data are looking rather repetitive during the coming several days, with this unstable situation expected to linger.  It's not an actual storm system we're dealing with -- just mainly PM instability being generated due to a combination of warm air in the lower levels, proportionately cooler air aloft, and a good amount of latent moisture in this early summer atmosphere.  The upper-level flow is very light these days, so nothing much is changing, nor is it expected to change during most of this coming week.

So -- we'll have to get used to periods of sun alternating with cloudiness, along with a fairly good chance of some scattered shower and thundershower development during the afternoon/evening hours.  So far, rainfall amounts have been generally light, but it's not out of the question that we could get some briefly heavier downpours on occasion.  Temperatures will be pretty close to seasonal norms, but will of course temporarily cool off during showers.
