things on the horizon... (am.10.may.14)>

There have been a couple of small fragments of cumulus clouds over the highest Dhauladhar peaks during the past hour, otherwise we have clear skies at sunrise on this Saturday morning.  My overnight low temp here in the upper part of town was 62.8F (17.1C), and there has been no rainfall since last report.  Humidity this morning is 40%.

It's looking great out there here at the start of the day, but there will likely be a good amount of cloud development over the mountains by mid-day, with a couple of thundershowers possible as well.  I think most shower/thunder activity will stay uphill from us, but we're going to have to be watchful during the afternoon, in case some of it sneaks further downhill.  Temperatures today should remain pretty close to the normal range for this stage of May.

A rather complicated weather system will be organizing by tomorrow, consisting of a weak upper-level circulation hovering just to our west, some waves of upper-level energy dropping in from the northwest, and a batch of moisture surging in from the south and southwest.  This combination of variables will spell out a period of potentially wet weather for us, with the best chance of some significant rain and thunderstorms between late Sunday and Tuesday evening.  It could end up being the most rain we've seen since Easter weekend, three weeks ago.  If this system does indeed come together as advertised, we'll also experience a period of much cooler temperatures.  Follow along as the latest info becomes available...
