*Update @ 10:13am... Some sunshine during the past hour and a half has pushed the temp at my location on Tushita Road above 68F (20C), so it looks like we'll probably get our first 70F (21C) of the season today. Finally!
*Update @ 7:52am... Just had a blast of gusty winds and a few sprinkles of rain here.
-----------------------------------------------------------
We have mostly cloudy skies just before sunrise this morning, and I'm recording the warmest overnight/early morning temperatures of the season and the year so far. I was surprised to see that my low temp here in the upper part of town has been just 59.7F (15.4C), and that it's currently 62.2F (16.8C). Humidity is 31%, and there has been no precipitation overnight.
A warmer and warmer air mass has been desperately trying to nudge its way northward since late Wednesday, but has been making only slow and fitful advances as we've had to deal with several waves of clouds which have hampered the sun's influence during much of the daylight hours. Still, our average daily temperatures have been on the rise during the past several days, and would be going much higher if not for the clouds. But today will be another one of those days of wrestling back and forth between sun and clouds, and temperatures will fluctuate accordingly.
The next storm system that we've been talking about is centered over western Afghanistan at the moment, and will bring us a stretch of active weather during this first part of the new week. As its upper-level energy encounters these warmer temperatures and increasing moisture across northern India during the next 24 hours, there will be significant shower and thunderstorm development breaking out, with some periods of very strong and gusty winds likely as well. Although there could be a few showers developing later today, I still think the best chance of significant rainfall will be from late tonight until late tomorrow (Mon) night. A best guess would be 0.50-1.0" (1.2-2.5cm) for rainfall amounts in our immediate area.
Instability will linger on Tuesday, with things looking relatively quiet and mild for the remainder of the week.
CURRENT FORECAST info for the next five days can be found on the tab above.
