It's looking fairly nice out there at sunset this evening, with partly cloudy skies. There have been periods of both clouds and sunshine today, along with some light rain showers which were confined mainly to the noon to 2:30pm range. At least at my location in the upper part of town, the rain was just barely enough to measure -- but there were some very strong and gusty winds between noon and 1:00pm accompanying those showers. Temperatures today were a few degrees cooler than we've enjoyed the last several days.
The upper-level disturbance and circulation which is now centered over northern Pakistan hasn't been able to muster up very much weather drama for us -- up to now, at least. Satellite pics are showing brand new thundershower development just west of Amritsar, however, and if it holds together between now and the very early AM hours, we could catch some of that action. Otherwise, our disturbance will be losing steam and lifting well off to the northeast by mid-morning tomorrow (Thu). In its wake, a gutsy-looking high pressure ridge will be building across northern India, allowing warmer temps throughout all layers of the atmosphere to surge northward. There will be some high cloud development at the same time though, and that makes it questionable as to whether we'll see temps finally rising above 70F (21C) sometime over the weekend.
The next disturbance will already be pushing into our area on Sunday, smashing into the high pressure ridge in place and creating a period of unstable weather during the first part of next week. Shower and thunderstorm chances are looking pretty good by Sunday afternoon, lasting into Tuesday.
