Tuesday's stats:
Low temp: 52.9F (11.6C)
High temp: 65.9F (18.8C)
Rainfall: none
Although mountain cumulus clouds dissipated earlier (and rapidly) this afternoon, there has been an increase in high clouds this evening as sunset approached. We had plenty of sunshine again today, with the most major influx of mountain clouds plaguing us for a couple of hours right around noon. Due to those clouds during the mid-day hours, my high temp in the upper part of town didn't rise above yesterday's high. It was still rather warm in the sun, but on the cool side if you were subject to clouds and a breeze.
We're still running about 5-6F (3C) cooler than normal here at the start of April, but it could certainly be a lot worse. In fact, on average, the last four days have been the mildest of this post-winter season so far. There's going to be some deterioration in conditions during the coming 24 hours, however, as a weak upper-level disturbance moves into northern Pakistan, and then quickly scoots across northern India tomorrow night into Thursday morning. The best chance of a couple of periods of showers and thundershowers still appears to be between tomorrow afternoon and very early Thursday morning, with rainfall amounts of around 0.50-0.75" (1-2cm) or so possible. Colder air aloft will be brought down here to the surface during periods of rainfall, so we'll likely see a significant dip in temps at some point.
The good news is that this system will rapidly get booted out of here by mid-day Thursday, as a rather strong ridge of high pressure builds across the area. Temperatures could rise higher than they have this season and all of 2014 so far as we head into the weekend, with a mix of sunshine and some waves of mainly high clouds. I'm still waiting for that elusive 70F (21C) temp at my location.
Looking further ahead... yet another wet spell is in the forecast for late Sunday through Monday.
