unsettled & unstable... (am.07.apr.14)>

*Update @ 8:43am... Already this morning we've had a little of everything.  I picked up another 0.04" (1mm) of rain from that little thundershower episode.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
The sky is partly cloudy at sunrise on this Monday morning, with a temp of 58.1F (14.5C) and 45% humidity.  The overnight low was 53.6F (12.0C), and that occurred just after midnight in the midst of a fairly rowdy period of thunder, light showers and very strong winds.  Those night-time thundershowers produced much more thunder and wind than actual rain -- I've only got 0.09" (2mm) here in the upper part of town to show for it.

Satellite pics this morning are showing a very well-defined circulation center parked over northern Pakistan -- due west of Srinagar.  During most of today we'll find ourselves in the southwesterly upper-level flow ahead of this system, and also in an area of potential instability which could lead to the development of a few more showers and/or thunderstorms in our vicinity.  This morning's data is actually looking a bit lackluster in terms of rainfall amounts for us, but keep the umbrella handy and be prepared for sudden changes all the way into this evening.  On the plus side, we'll also likely see at least some sunshine today despite the rather turbulent atmosphere.

Apart from the risk of some afternoon cloud/shower development mainly over the mountains, the rest of this week isn't looking too bad.  We should see a good amount of sunshine on most days, with temperatures gradually moderating a bit, but still remaining several degrees cooler than historical averages for this stage of April.  It has been getting progressively warmer, but we have to remember that those norms/averages are also rising day by day -- and we haven't been able to make up the difference yet this season.
