It is cloudy and a bit breezy just before sunrise, and there are a few sprinkles and very light rain showers in the area, with some snow showers higher up on the mountains. There is nothing measurable in my rain gauge, despite those few rain drops overnight. I'm recording a low temperature of 43.0F (6.1C), and humidity has been hovering around 50%.
It looks like there has been rather widespread snowfall since late yesterday afternoon to our north across much of Kashmir and the Lahaul and Spiti Valleys. We have indeed been just on the south-southwestern edge of the more significant precipitation since this all began very early on Monday morning. Still, we've seen barely any sunshine at all the last two days, thanks to the mixing and churning of the atmosphere.
The latest in a series of disturbances is passing through this morning, and will keep us susceptible to a few periods of mainly light rain showers. Unless some much heavier precipitation develops (and I don't think it will), temps are going to remain too warm for any snow/rain mixture here in McLeod. We may dry out completely later today through the middle of Thursday before we begin to come under the influence of what looks to be a much more ominous system. There remains good consensus among the computer model data that moderate to heavy precipitation will occur further downhill -- across nearly all of Himachal --between Thursday night and early Saturday. Some colder air may become involved as well, so there is still a chance we could end up with some snow on the ground before all of this active weather finally begins to quiet down by late in the weekend...
