this is the time of the year when the sweltering heat down on the plains tries to bump up against the milder air hanging over the mountains. it only takes a bit of moisture, a pocket of colder air up around 15,000ft, and maybe some twisiting of the jetstream-level winds to crank up a round of thunderstorms. this is the kind of pattern we'll see throughout the coming week... plenty of sunshine and warm temps, but also the possibility of mainly afternoon and night-time thunderstorms passing through.
