the official monsoon onset for 2010 has now been declared for ALL of india, except for about the western two thirds of rajasthan. as expected, that northern limit line literally flew across all of northern india in just the past 2 days. ironically, on this, the first official day of monsoon in mcleod ganj, we only had a few sprinkles of rain. the large area of rain and thunderstorms this morning slipped just to our east during the day, delivering heavy rains to the eastern part of our state, and across much of uttar anchal. monsoon lovers should take heart, however... very thick and rich moisture is now in place across the area, and we'll be seeing plenty of rain during the coming 48 hours. earlier there was some indication of a bit of a retreat of monsoon moisture during the latter part of the week, but it now appears that we'll be seeing that high humidity and heavy rain potential right through the next 5 days...
75th birthday celebrations for HH the dalai lama are scheduled for 9am tomorrow morning at the temple. but, there's a good chance we could be dealing with a rainy morning...
