rainfall the last several days has been so persistent, that numbers are literally starting to swim in my head. it's hard to keep up. as of 5pm, i had another 1.75" (4.5cm) in the rain gauge, most of which fell in just over an hour's time this afternoon. added to the 1.3" overnight, that makes 3.05" (7.7cm) in the past 24 hours. no doubt my observers near the main temple have similar numbers to report... and i'll post them here asap. the high temp today was 23C/73F, which actually occurred during the morning, thanks to a couple of hours of nice sunshine.
**RAINFALL UPDATE** rainfall was much lower near the main temple today than it was at the weathergeek office in upper mcleod ganj.... with 1.30" (3.3cm) reported in the past 24 hours. this again shows the variability of monsoon downpours across the area, and partially balances out yesterday's heavier rains near the temple, as opposed to our lighter amounts up high.
we are now so firmly entrenched in the depths of monsoon conditions, that there will be very little variety from day to day. our average weekly rainfall totals have been increasing steadily... so don't expect anything more than a partial day of dry weather here and there. i've noticed that the ferns are now fully developed on tree trunks and branches, and the mosses are getting thicker on concrete surfaces. with humidity levels remaining in the 80-100% range, even with a bit of sun, there is little chance of any appreciable drying...
