We're still dealing with a few high clouds just after sunset on this Friday evening.  The high overcast was rather thick at times today, but we also had some glimpses of sun here and there which allowed this mild air mass to surpass 60F for the fifth straight day.  This has been quite a streak of above normal temperatures we've been enjoying this week.

The latest upper-level disturbance moving overhead today was responsible for the high cloudiness -- but with humidity remaining right around 35%, it's been virtually impossible to squeeze out a shower.  It looks like there could have been a few drops of rain, sleet or snow up on the highest peaks this afternoon, but that's about it.  We have what seems to be a nearly endless train of disturbances scheduled to move through during the coming week or so, with the potential for us to come up with at least some light rainfall amounts before Wednesday rolls around.  Significant precipitation doesn't look promising, but keep a close eye on the forecast as we watch the latest developments.

One thing appears certain -- we're going to lose these mild temperatures quite soon.  There will be a modest cool-down over the weekend, but extended range computer model guidance is pointing to a dramatic return to below normal temps by the middle of next week.  The harsh reality of the season may be a bit shocking by Tuesday and Wednesday.

Our sky is partly cloudy this evening, after a day which featured a mixture of sunshine and some patches of high cloudiness.  Although we can't really call it WARM, temperatures are running several degrees above normal for this time of year, so we continue to enjoy very mild conditions for early December.

A series of weak upper level disturbances is gradually chipping away at the rather strong ridge of high pressure which has been dominating the weather pattern over north India for most of this week.  There are lots of high clouds scattered from the Persian Gulf into central Asia and the western Himalayas in association with these disturbances/weak circulations in the upper-levels, and it looks like we may even get a passing shower at some point, though the chance of significant rainfall will be very small.  At the moment, it appears our best chance of catching some raindrops will be late tomorrow (Fri) into Saturday morning, and then again on late Monday into Tuesday.

There will also be a gradual cooling trend starting over the weekend, and then continuing in earnest during at least the first half of next week.  We should see temps back in the normal range by Monday, and possibly dipping below normal thereafter...

We have some patchy mid- and high-level clouds around the area at sunset this evening, along with a view of a layer of haze trapped in the lowest levels of the atmosphere downhill from us.  Sunshine in the midst of occasional clouds boosted our high temp to the warmest of the past month -- we're bordering on ridiculously mild for December.

A weak upper-level disturbance moving across Himalayan north India has been responsible for the clouds today.  But weak it is, and dry, and will not be threatening us with any rainfall potential as it moves out overnight.  Tomorrow (Thursday) should be quiet, but yet another disturbance will be approaching by late Friday, and another one after that for Monday.  Each of these systems will be a bit more robust than the one before, and I think we have at least a mentionable chance of a shower or two getting squeezed out of our relatively dry atmosphere as they pass by.  Particularly, we'll need to keep an eye on Monday's disturbance for some potentially measurable rainfall.

Temperatures should continue to average a few degrees above normal for this time of year until early next week when we could be in line for a significant blast of seasonably cool air.  Enjoy the mild conditions while they last!

It is absolutely clear just after sunset this evening after an absolutely sunny day.  Today's high temp of 63F was the warmest since the 6th of November -- exactly four weeks ago!

The warming trend we've been experiencing over the course of the past four days has been more dramatic than expected, and has taken us several degrees above normal for the first week of December.  A healthy high pressure ridge remains sprawled across northern India, providing a very stable air mass for our enjoyment, and suppressing virtually all potential cloud development -- a rather rare event for us here along the front slopes of the Dhauladhars.  There will be a weak upper-level disturbance drifting through tomorrow (Wed) into tomorrow night, but it should do nothing more than give us a chance of seeing a few more clouds moving in or developing.  A stronger disturbance is still scheduled for the weekend, from Friday night into Saturday, and will give us at least a slight chance of a couple of showers in the midst of partly to mostly cloudy skies.

The unusually balmy early winter temps should hang around for a few more days... it looks like the next chance of some significant cooling will wait until the weekend.  Early next week should see a return to normal temperatures for the season...
