Sunday's stats:
Low temp: 43.7ºF (6.5ºC)
High temp: 55.6ºF (13.1ºC)
Precipitation: none
My high temp this afternoon tied with the second-warmest of this new year so far, thanks to a milder air mass which had the assistance of plenty of sunshine. We did see several waves of high cloudiness, especially during the morning into the early afternoon, but the sun was definitely in control today.
There are some clouds advancing from the west, which could give us limited sunshine tomorrow (Mon), but our temperatures should remain on the mild side for early February. It's still looking like the first day of Losar will be relatively pleasant, though we're probably going to have quite a lot of cloudiness around, with a chance of a few scattered light rain showers popping up.
The big news is the fact that we're still looking at a very intense mid-winter storm system moving in for the latter half of the week, with increasing chances of widespread moderate to heavy rain and snow. The blast of very cold air with this system may allow the snow line to end up significantly further downhill than we've seen so far this winter -- especially by mid-day Thursday, right through late Friday night or early Saturday morning. There are lots of people traveling up and down and all around during the upcoming extended Losar holiday period... so it would be a good idea to be weather-aware...
